Bhaleshwor Mahadev is a Hindu temple on the Chandragiri hill in Kathmandu Valley's south-west corner. The temple is located at an altitude of 2551 metres above sea level. Bhaleshwor Mahadev temple is believed to have been built at one of these sites, where Sati Devi's forehead ('Bhala') had fallen. According to the history of Nepal's unification, King Prithvi Narayan Shah saw the beautiful Kathmandu valley from Chandrdgiri hill and intended to establish the capital there.
